Archdiocese of Kansas City, Leading the Way in Care of Victims
Dcn. Nicholas Ashmore
Why I want to be a priest: My first thoughts of the Priesthood were when I was in the 4th grade. After much anticipation, I had the opportunity finally to serve at Mass, and it was there, on the altar, as I knelt next to the Priest that I first got the inkling that this might be where I am called to be for the rest of my life. Throughout the rest of my youth, this desire grew and grew, and finally, when I was decided where I would go to College, I knew that I had no other option than to pursue this path. God had been calling me in the depths of my heart for a very long time, and it was finally time to respond with my whole self. So, I applied, was accepted and went to Conception Seminary College right out of High School. (Click picture to read more)

Why I want to be a priest: To serve God's people by conferring the sacraments.

Why I want to be a Priest: I desire to be a priest first and foremost because the Lord has shown me so clearly that this is His will and desire for my life. In following Jesus more closely through a life consecrated to Him, I may be a vessel of His love and joy for others, drawing them to unity in Him and with each other.

Why I want to be a Priest: I have always wanted to serve God’s people, and consequently especially love the Good Shepherd parable. When I need to be re-energized I simply talk to people in the diocese, those who I will someday serve, and hope to lay down my life for. I want to help them, in whatever way I can, and I feel that God has put this on my heart since I was young. One of my greatest inspirations is Fr. Michael McGivney, who was truly a priest for the people.
Why I want to be a Priest: I have an extreme desire to live a life of sacrifice. Even though I can’t get enough of the new technology that’s always coming out, it’s something I’ve been attracted to from a very young age. What gives me the most joy is imagining myself carrying out the beautiful Sacraments of our Catholic Church.
Why I want to be a Priest: I have felt called by the Lord. I want to serve Him the way He asks of me.
Why I want to be a priest: I want to be a priest because of my deep love for Christ. Whatever He asks me to do, I will do, because I know He knows all.
Why I want to be a Priest:
Why I want to be a Priest: I want to be a priest to spread the love of God and to be a mediator between God and man.
Why I want to be a Priest: I want to participate in Christ's ministry of revealing the Father's love in this world.
Why I want to be a Priest: I want to be a priest because I believe God is calling me to it and for the salvation of souls. I have a love for the sacraments which was fostered very much by my high school and college experiences, and I want to celebrate them. To answer "yes" to the call is assenting to a heroic call, and I want to be able to stand up and say "yes" to God's prompt: "come and follow me".
Why I want to be a Priest:
I have experienced a call and want what God wants because if this is His call then it truly is the most joyful life He has for me. I find great purpose in serving God’s people and for standing up for what is right in our communities and in the world.
